GAINESVILLE – Keystone Heights’s achille heel for 2020 seems to be Crescent City with the Raider winning three matchups with the Indians including a 6-1 district 5-3A championship game on Fri., Feb. 7 at P.K. Yonge.
Keystone Heights got a lone goal from school record holder Dean Hogg, now with 46 goals for coach Trevor Waters.
“Dean also set the points record held by Jose Grimaldo with 102 points thus far,” said Keystone Heights coach Trevor Waters. “Crescent City just outplayed us. FSU is a good Tallahassee team that we want to beat and get a shot at Bolles.”
Keystone Heights (16-7-3), the fifth seed, will travel to Florida State University High in Tallahassee (8-9-3), the fourth seed, in their region opener on Tues., Feb. 12.
One hole to fill for Waters will be for burly Colby Townsend, who was red-carded against Crescent City.
“We haven’t heard the extent of the penalty which will be either one or two games,” said Waters. “That hurts us.”
In the opposite side of the region 1-3A bracket, P.K. Yonge (12-4-8), the eighth seed, travels to top seed Bolles (12-6-1). Crescent City (12-7-2), the second seed, drops to host Episcopal (6-10-1) on their side of the bracket with a potential rematch with Keystone Heights in the region final. Pensacola Catholic (10-5-2) hosts Wolfson (12-10) in the bottom of region 1-3A.
