BUFFALO, NY - Oakleaf High graduate and swim state champion Elianna Kennon, now at Indian River State College in Florida, came home from the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) swimming and diving championships with gold medals in two events; the 50 free and the 100 individual medley.

Winning 24 of the 25 individual and team titles, the Indian River (FL) women's swimming and diving team won their 37th consecutive NJCAA Women's Swimming and Diving National Championship in dominant style. The Indian River women posted a meet-best 1,277 points in route to capturing their 41st overall program title.

The Indian River men's program also took home the championship in the four-day event, securing their 45th consecutive title. The Pioneer women topped South Georgia State, Iowa Central, Southwestern Oregon, and Barton, who rounded out the top five respectively.

Kennon, a sophomore, captured two individual events and was a member of two relay titles. Kennon, a 2016 Class 3A 50 free champion for Oakleaf, powered through the 50 free in 23.54 seconds with teammates Emma Colvin, Camryn Wheals and Elizabeth Watts all stayed in the 23 second range finishing second, third and fourth.

Watts is a Fleming Island High graduate.

In the 100 IM, two days later, Kennon blitzed the field with a winning 58.98 split with second place at 1:00.13; teammate Camryn Wheals.

Kennon also claimed a pair of team titles in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay.
