GREEN COVE SPRINGS – A janitor at Clay High was arrested last Friday, Sept. 13, for filming girls inside the locker room with a cell phone concealed inside an unassigned locker, the State Attorney’s Office said.

Jason Brian Goff, 42, of Starke, was charged with attempted production of child pornography. If convicted, Goff faces between 15 and 30 years in federal prison and a potential life term of supervised release.

According to the 13-page criminal complaint, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations was called after two 14-year-old students told a school resource officer with the Clay County School Police Department and a Clay sheriff’s office on Aug. 22 after they suspected they were being filmed as they changed clothes. Deputies found a cellphone taped to inside of locker No. 152. The lens was aimed through a “pre-fabricated hole” in the side of the locker to record students in the changing area.

One of the girls said she noticed a hole in the locker while her friend dressed and she saw the cellphone through the hole. The lock on No. 152 also had a black face, while the other lockers had green-faced locks.

Goff, who worked at the school for 13 months, is assigned to clean the boys’ and girls’ locker rooms. The state attorney said it appears girls were videoed during the first eight days of the new schoolyear.

Investigators found “selfie” images of Goff on the cellphone. The number for the cell phone also matched the telephone number provided by Goff on his information form required by the school district.

According to the criminal complaint, Goff is accused of attempting to “employ, use, persuade, induce, entice and coerce a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for purpose of producing an visual depiction of such conduct, and with image was produced using materials that may have been mailed, shipped and transported in an affecting interstate and foreign commerce.”

The school district issued the following statement:

“Jason Goff is currently employed through Clay County District Schools as a custodian at Clay High School. Goff is suspended pending the outcome of an investigation by the Department of Homeland Security. The District hired Goff in 2012 after an extensive background check required for all employees. At no time during Goff's employment were there any concerns relating to his tenure. Upon receiving notification of the investigation, the District took immediate action and will continue to partner with all agencies involved.
