KEYSTONE HEIGHTS - After a 10-5 loss to 6A-Ridgeview High on March 1, the Keystone Heights High School baseball team has rattled off four wins; two district victories over Santa Fe and P.K. Yonge and a 12-2 bashing of North Marion High on March 9.

The Indians, now 7-2, 2-0 in district 5-5A, beat Orange Park 8-2 after the Ridgeview loss then beat district foes Santa Fe 7-5 and P.K. Yonge 3-0 to take the lead in with Santa Fe in second at 4-3 and P.K. Yonge in third at 4-3-1, 1-2 in district play. Bradford, at 1-4, 1-2, sits just ahead of Palatka, 3-6, 0-2 in the rest of the district lineup.

Against Santa Fe, on March 3, a 7-5 win, Keystone Heights got an eight strikeout performance from pitcher Austin Bass who battled against a nine strikeout performance from Santa Fe's Justin McCranie.

Santa Fe tagged Bass for four first inning runs to set the Indians back early, but the Keystone Heights bats stayed steady with three runs in their first at bats to keep the score 4-3.

Up 1-0 after their initial at bat from a single by Gage Hall that scored Pearson Lewis, Santa Fe answered back with two singles and a double tying the game before a grounder put Santa Fe up 2-1. Bass gave up another single and a field error at third scored the game 4-1 before Bass ended the effort with a strikeout.

An error and a double from A Cox set up a score for the Indians off an error on a Lewis grounder to close the game to 4-3.

Keystone Heights upped the score with a walk and single set up a two run double from Daelen Brown that was followed by an RBI single to Hall off a field error for a 6-4 lead.

Santa Fe would not let the game get away with a fifth inning score off a walk, a bunt and a batter hit by a pitch.

Keystone Heights finished the scoring in the seventh with a Tyler Ricketts double scoring Hall who had walked.

Against P.K. Yonge, another pitcher's duel between Keystone Heights' Conner O'Steen with eight strikeouts and Yonge's Anthony Whelan with four strikeouts would ensue with both zeroing bats until the third inning.

Keystone Heights scored two runs in the third with a Gage Hall double with two baserunners.

In the sixth, Gary Searle singled and later scored off a single to Austin Cox and a grounder by Rickets for the final 3-0 score.

Against 6A-North Marion, Keystone Heights' bats came alive in the fifth inning for seven runs with Hall hitting for three RBIS with a three run homer in the fourth and a double, Osteen, also with a double, and Cox for 2RBIs.

Keystone Heights coach Alan Mattox used Lewis and Bass on the mound with the duo combining for six strikeouts and four hits; including a home run.

Keystone Heights went up 5-2 on Hall's homer then added runs in the fifth with three singles and two doubles keeping the base paths busy for the Indians who climbed to a 12-2 lead.

Keystone Heights travels to Gainesville Buchholz on March 14 before returning home for a district slate of Palatka on March 17 and Bradford on March 20.
