Green Cove Springs joins April Water Conservation month push

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – The Green Cove Springs City Council offered a proclamation bringing the city into alignment with Clay County and other municipalities to name April Water Conservation month.

Present for the proclamation were St. John’s River Water Management District Public Communications Coordinator Jennifer Mitchell, and representatives from Clay County Soil and Water Conservation Board Richard Russell and Wes Taylor.

Following the proclamation, the consent agenda was approved by a vote of 5-0 with no items pulled for further review.

Other notes discussed included that the city will receive a $3.6 million grant from the recently passed American Rescue Plan. The city is still working to identify how it will spend the money.

Planet Swim, who is contracted by the city to run the pool in Spring Park, will begin operations on May 1. During the month of May, the pool will operate on weekend hours. Beginning June 1, the poll also will be open Tuesday-through-Thursday every week, It will be closed on Mondays for maintenance. In September, the pool will revert to weekend hours, and operation in October will be weather dependent.
