Toys for Tots sets record in donations
ORANGE PARK – The Clay County Marine Corps League collected more than 5,400 toys this year and distributed them to more than 1,100 children in Clay County. All toys that were collected stay here to be given to Clay County children. The Young Marines organization assisted the Marine Corps League and its family members with this year’s toy drive.

‘Operation Round Up’ hits $1 million milestone
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – The Clay Electric Foundation closes out 2018 hitting a milestone as more than $1 million in Operation Round Up grants were approved in 2018 that helped 90 organizations change lives with services and programs ranging from domestic violence shelters, activities for residents with development disabilities and critical service for seniors and more. Since launching in October 2016, Operation Round Up has generated more than $1.5 million in funding for projects in 14 North Florida counties.
“The success of this program is because of our generous members who elect to participate by rounding up their electric bill each month,” said Derick Thomas, chief public relations officer for Clay Electric. “Ninety-two percent of our members are currently signed up, which is incredible.”
Members who participate in Operation Round Up donate an average of 50 cents per month, with the maximum contribution being $11.88 per year.

Garden club brightens spirits at Haven Hospice
ORANGE PARK – For the 12th year in a row, members of the Marsh Landing Garden Club donated 40 trees to the Haven Hospice Custead Care Center near Orange Park.
Twenty of the trees stayed at the center to brighten things up and 20 more were dispersed to Haven’s patients who could enjoy them in their home or nursing home room.
