GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Amy Pope Wells, a Republican businesswoman with a proven record of community leadership, announced her campaign for the U.S. Congress in Florida's 3rd District.

The seat currently is being held by Ted Yoho, a Republican from Gainesville.

“I am extremely excited about and humbled by the task ahead of me. I look forward to meeting the voters of District 3 and sharing my conservative vision to address our country’s acute challenges," Wells said last Monday. "The skyrocketing cost of health care, the crisis at our southern border and the opioid epidemic are immediate problems that need comprehensive solutions."

Wells was tapped by President Trump and Vice President Pence in 2017 to serve on a committee that supports the United States-Canada Council for the Advancement of Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders. In this role, she met with the President, the Vice President, Ivanka Trump and then-Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon to further opportunities for women business owners and operators.

"I am an anti-politician who will bring a fresh perspective, new ideas and a principled approach with me as I seek to represent District 3," Wells said. "I will stand with President Trump as he engages on these important issues and many others to the benefit of the American people and the residents of District 3.

“It’s become critically apparent to me I have to do the work. One of the things I’ve done my whole life is, I’ve never, ever, ever been afraid of work. And things are best done when you walk side by side with people.”

Wells is personally familiar with the strong work ethic and commitment necessary to build a successful business. She currently owns and operates two local businesses, Link Staffing and PayDay HR Solutions, with her husband and business partner Craig Wells. Wells attributes her strong work ethic to her parents, who taught her the importance of hard work, faith, family and public service.

Committed to serving her community for more than 15 years, Wells has an active leadership role in a number of local civic organizations, including Chairwoman of the Clay County Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Clay County Sheriff's Office Quality Task Force. She is also a Board Member of the University of North Florida Small Business Development Center.

Wells has been involved in politics for years, and in 2017 was appointed by then-Governor Rick Scott to serve as a Board Member of the Clay County Development Authority. In 2018, she was the Co-Chair of the statewide Women's Coalition in support of Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Wells resides in Green Cove Springs with her husband and her two children, Jordan and Calvin. She also has two grown children, Abigail and Bradley.
