Faith walk: True valor

Many people live daily with challenging issues that affect every moment of their day. They face life with hardships that most of us will never truly understand. The person in the wheelchair, the individual born with down syndrome, the one facing the debilitation of multiple sclerosis, and more and more are examples of the conditions I am addressing.

Just for a moment, think about how different your life would be if you were living with one of these challenges or another one I have not mentioned.

According to a broad definition of disability, about 56.7 million people – 19 percent of the population — had a disability in 2010. More than half of them reported the disability was severe. This is according to a comprehensive report on the population released by the U.S. Census Bureau. That is about one of every five people in this country.

Every Sunday I see people just like this. They are the courageous ones! They inspire me! And they cause me to give thanks to God every day. I must be thankful for the blessing God has allowed me to live in a well, whole body.

And those of you with a disability must maintain your faith and trust in the love of God. While breath flows through your body, you are still here for God’s high purpose. You are here because God has a plan for you!

I salute you as you are faithful in your suffering. You hold up a light that encourages us to know that God can bring us through anything.

We live with many conditions we do not understand. But understanding is not required for us to have faith! We trust regardless of the conditions or situations.

In the midst of your challenges, stay faithful to God. Do everything in your service to Him that you possibly can do. Some things are not possible for you. But do everything in His service that is possible for you to do. Don’t quit! Continuing to serve and believe God causes your light shine brighter as it pierces through the shadows of the conditions of your life.

Stand for the Lord! You are holding me up to stand with you! Thank you!
