Faith walk: Rescue

A major storm was predicted. Local officials warned that riverbanks would soon overflow. Flooding was expected over a wide area. Everyone was ordered to evacuate immediately.

When a Christian man heard the warning, he said: “If I am in danger, God will provide a miracle to save me.”

Friends said to him, “We’re leaving and there is room for you in our car; please come with us!” The man declined saying, “I have faith that God will save me.”

As the man watched the water rise, someone paddled by in a canoe and called to him, “Hurry! Get into my canoe, the waters are rising quickly!” But the man again said, “No thanks, God will save me.”

As the floodwaters rose, pouring into his living room, the man climbed to the second floor. A police motorboat came by and saw him at the window. “We will come up and rescue you!” they shouted. But the man refused, waving them off saying, “Help someone else! My God will save me!”

As the waters rose higher and higher, the man climbed up to his rooftop. A helicopter spotted him. A rope ladder was dropped. A man in the helicopter came down the ladder and pleaded with the man, "Grab my hand; I will pull you up!" But the man still refused. “No thank you! God will save me!” he said.

Soon the house broke up under the waters sweeping pressure and the floodwaters swept the man away and he drowned.

When he arrived in Heaven, the man complained to God and asked, “I put all of my faith in You. Why didn’t You come and save me?”

God said, “Son, I sent you a warning. I sent you a car. I sent you a canoe. I sent you a motorboat. I sent you a helicopter. What more did you expect Me to do?”

It is easy to miss the blessings of God because we are not looking for them. God does not disguise them, but we must be open to every way that God may choose to meet us. Do not miss God great blessings today because you are looking for them in only one way when He has many ways to channel His blessings to us.
