Faith Walk: God is Good (All the Time)

Remember the fruit of the spirit can grow in our lives every day.

Would the world be a better place if each of us had more of this fruit?

22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23

The Bible begins with a beautiful story. The opening of the book of Genesis tells us the story of creation. God makes the world and everything in it. He tops it all off with His masterpiece: humanity made in His image. At the end of it all, God looks upon all He has done and declares that it is “very good.” Creation moved on, imbued with God’s goodness.

Psalm 31:19 says: “How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world”.

We know that the world has fallen since then and that things are not the same. But that doesn’t mean that God doesn’t still pour out His goodness upon us. We are His children, and He loves us more than we could ever understand. Just as we love to give everything we can to our kids, God is overjoyed in giving us everything He can.

And God’s gifts are beyond anything we can comprehend. His goodness knows no bounds. That’s why we are so abundantly blessed to be called His children. The blessings He floods our lives with are available nowhere else. If we live lives separate from God, we can never truly bloom into the people that we were created to be. That’s because our lives were meant to be fueled by God’s goodness.

We can live out His goodness and share it with others through emulating Jesus in everything we do. Embracing our identity in Christ helps us to realize the goodness that God placed inside of us. We honor God and spread His love when we go through our days striving to express His image within us. You can rest in God’s goodness always. Never forget that His arms are always open wide for His children.
