Patience is hard, especially when what we hope for is a good thing. Our hearts long to experience beautiful things in life, but sometimes our plans don’t play out the way we expect them to. This situation is why it’s crucial to trust in God’s perspective. Our point of view is limited, but God sees all. When He is guiding our life, we can rest assured that He is leading us on the correct path, even if it’s hard to see our destination in the moment.
Patience is another wonderful fruit of the Spirit as explained to us in Galatians 5:22: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law” (NIV).
Prayer is our key to developing patience. Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (NIV). Coming to God with a grateful heart through prayer can strengthen our hearts and help give us the patience to wait on God’s timing. Through prayer, God gives us a powerful glimpse of His eternal perspective.
During seasons of waiting, it can be challenging to keep working towards our purpose. But we must prevail! Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (NIV). It’s essential that we cling to God’s promises and always remember that He will bless us richly for our contributions to His Kingdom.
Patience always pays off: that’s why it’s a fruit of the Spirit. Rest assured that God will always lead you precisely where you need to be. He has your best interests at heart and wants to see you thrive in life. Being patient and diligent in faith will lead you to a life of abundance.
Pray and believe that God will help you to exercise more patience each day!
