CLAY COUNTY – It’s safe to say this year it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons.

With COVID-19 still a fear around the country, Clay Today asked our readers what they’re excited to do first when the fear of this virus is gone. The general consensus for this week’s Facebook Question of the Week seems to revolve around interacting with others in the same way we did before the shutdowns in March.

“Smiling at strangers, shaking hands and giving hugs,” resident Kari Woodworth said. “I do all this with my friends now, but it would be nice to be able to really smile at people again and reach out with a helping hand. Just the small things, really.”

Lillie Andrews agreed and said she’s excited to give and get hugs and talk to people closer than six feet apart. She is excited to not cringe when people get too close to her and smile at strangers again. There’s a million other things and they all revolve around enjoying people, she said.

There are those who look forward to their next major vacation, perhaps doing something they can’t do right now like a cruise or multi-generational family trip.

“Cruise, eat out with friends and go to Walt Disney World,” Janet Messcher said.

Christine Luther and Gary Goble are also excited about going on a cruise once more. There are those who have found a greater appreciation for what they already have in life.

“Honestly, I don’t miss anything,” Rebecca-Jane Grimm said. “I mean, during this time, it has given me and my family time to really focus on the basics and get back to the basics, and to really die into our church, our beliefs, and what really matters most, our family.

“So really, other than masks and struggles with my special needs daughters, I hope to continue doing what we’re doing, which is our best.”

Michael Hull responded by saying he can’t wait to living life without intimidation.

What are you most excited to do when things start to settle and COVID-19 is either something behind us or something this country has a firm and safe grasp on? Let us know by commenting on the Facebook Question of the Week currently up on the Clay Today Newspaper Facebook page.
