NEPTUNE BEACH – Fleming Island High volleyball rebounded from a disappointing district final loss to Bartram Trail with a 3-0 region 1-8A win over Fletcher in the playoff opener for both. The win sets up a rematch of sorts at Bartram Trail in the region semifinal on Tues., Oct. 31.

Junior center hitter Rayna Durden blasted 14 scoring shots from her middle position in the three games against Fletcher as the Golden Eagles battled through the first two games with scores of 25-21 and 28-26 before hammering Fletcher 25-14 in the match winner. Also at the net, freshman Maya Walker handed out eight scores with sophomore Jasmine Robinson adding seven. Fletcher could only counter with junior Morgan Killingsworth pounding just eight scores. Fleming Island (24-3)registered just five errors on digs with Robinson getting 18 bumps and Lyara Rosario adding 14 to keep the ball forward for Fleming Island.

Bartram Trail (18-9) advances to the semifinal after defeating Atlantic Coast 25-8, 25-12 and 25-8. Senior center hitter Alexia Kuehl had 11 kills.
