LAKE ASBURY – Dalton’s Sports Grill has a new home.

The longtime Middleburg restaurant, known for its award-winning burgers, wings and traditional American-style cuisine, has moved to the former Boondocks Grill and Bar location at 2808 Henley Road.

Skylar Davis, the owner of Dalton’s, has been in the restaurant business for the past six years.

“We packed up and moved to a bigger, nicer building here,” said Davis. “We’ve been in talks with the owners of the property back and forth for a little while and we finally came to a pretty good agreement and we took over the occupancy here.”

According to Davis, the community is excited. Daltons’ social media pages are getting a lot of attention about the move and he hopes to bring his Middleburg clientele with him to the new location.

“I’m hoping to grow more and expand more, bringing in more of Lake Asbury, Green Cove, Fleming Island – people that wouldn’t normally travel down to Middleburg,” he said. “And also bringing our Middleburg clientele over here as well.”

He anticipates growth and bigger and better things in the new location.

Davis and Dalton’s are not only adding to the Lake Asbury community with great food and a watering hole but also by providing jobs. With the restaurant being in a more prominent location, it now needs more employees. He has already hired more people and is looking to continue to expand the roster.

“I’ve already hired quite a few new ones; I’ve actually had quite a few people showing up today applying for jobs,” Davis said. “People still want to work, even though some places are struggling to find help. We’re blessed to have a lot of people wanting to help.”

Davis is a jack of all trades. He owns the restaurant, cooks, does plumbing or whatever else is needed to help make it all run. He’s willing to do whatever is necessary.

“People can expect to enjoy a good family-friendly atmosphere,” he said. “My likes are racing, football and music, so we are going to incorporate all three into one sports grill. A family-friendly atmosphere, a good place to come with your family, or a good place to come have some drinks and listen to some live music.”

Davis expects to eventually have live music with local musicians adding a different touch to the experience.

A date has not been set for the grand reopening of Dalton’s. He hopes to have it open for takeout orders and casual dining in the next week. A possible grand opening could happen in the next month or two.

“It takes a special person to want to be in the restaurant industry. You gotta have the passion. You gotta have it in your heart, and we’ve got it in our heart. We’re here to show this community and all of Clay County what a good restaurant and sports grill we can bring.”
