CLAY COUNTY – The county is hiring.
According to the Clay County Economic Development Corporation, there are more than 200 job openings in the area, marking some of the lowest local unemployment rates in more than 20 years.
While the national unemployment rate is at a 50-year low at 3.5%, Clay County’s currently is at 2.6%, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Those looking in the county for qualified candidates include: Orange Park Medical Center (62 available positions); Parallon (15); St Vincent Health (49); Walmart (eight); bestbet (10); Vac-Con (two); Clay Baptist Health (14 positions); AT&T (four); General RV (one); VyStar Credit Union (four); Roller Die (one); Superior Construction (14 career fields); Clay County Utility Authority (one); Life Care Centers (10); Vallencourt Construction (seven career fields); Great Lakes Dock & Dredge Co. (27); Kindred Hospital (14); Clay Electric (six); Penney Farms Retirement Community (seven); Andromeda Systems Inc. (12); Isle Health & Rehabilitation Center (17); Moosehaven Retirement Community (four); and ICG Builds (eight).
The figures released by the county don’t reflect the number of job vacancies at smaller “mom and pop” stores and restaurants.
