OP’s Garden Club: February is National Bird Feeding Month

ORANGE PARK – In 994, Congressman John Porter established February as National Bird Feeding Month due to the harsh conditions endured during one of the coldest months of the year.
Thankfully the weather in our Florida area is mild. The Garden Club of Orange Park wants to remind everyone this year's theme is “Winter Comforts – Feed the Birds and Keep Them Happy and Healthy.”
During the month of February, keep your bird feeders filled, have your binoculars close by for viewing, and obtain a bird book to identify the species. Backyard bird-feeding is an entertaining, educational, and inexpensive pastime enjoyed by children and adults.
