Four local students earn degrees from Western Governors

SALT LAKE CITY – Fleming Island’s Schuyler Boone, Julia Castro and Nicholas Calcutti of Middleburg and Jennifer Valadez of Orange Park all graduated recently from Western Governors University.
Boone earned a Master of Arts in Teaching-Mathematics degree; Castro earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing; Calcutti earned a Master of Science degree in Information Technology Management; and Valadez earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing.
The online, nonprofit university has graduated over 167,000 students from across the country since its inception in 1997.

Welsh graduates from Sam Houston State University

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Orange Park’s Kahlil Welsh recently earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University.
Sam Houston State University is a public university that was founded in 1879 and is the third-oldest public college or university in Texas. It is one of the oldest purpose-built institutions for the instruction of teachers west of the Mississippi River and the first such institution in Texas.

Orange Park’s Patterson earns degree at Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Quahlin Patterson of Orange Park recently earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree from Valdosta State University.
Patterson was among more than 800 undergraduate and graduate students who completed the requirements for their respective degrees during the Fall 2019 semester.

Moser graduates from Southeast Missouri State

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Green Cove Springs’ Robert Moser was among the Southeast Missouri State University’s Fall graduates.
Moser earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a major in general management.

Orange Park’s Fisher earns degree at Greensboro College

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Kyle Thomas Fisher of Orange Park earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education degree from Greensboro College.
Greensboro College provides a liberal arts education grounded in the traditions of the United Methodist Church and fosters the intellectual, social, and, spiritual development of all students while supporting their individual needs.

Cox, Domenico earn scholarships for Culver-Stockton College

CANTON, Mo. – Keystone Height High’s Drew Cox and Fleming Island’s Broden Domenico were admitted into Culver-Stockton College's incoming class for the fall 2020 semester and received academic scholarships.
Cox also was awarded the Hilltop Scholarship, a $10,000 per year scholarship for four years.
Domenico was awarded the President's Scholarship, an $11,500 per year scholarship for four years.
These scholarships are awarded based upon academic credentials and are renewable provided the student remains in good academic standing.
Culver-Stockton College is a four-year residential institution in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). C-SC specializes in experiential education and is one of only two colleges in the nation to offer the 12-plus-3 semester calendar, where the typical 15-week semester is divided into a 12-week term and a 3-week term.

Middleburg’s Lloyd makes Georgia State’s President’s List

ATLANTA – Alexander Lloyd of Middleburg made the President’s List at Georgia State University for the Fall semester.
To be eligible for the President's List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 4.0 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Fleming Island’s Thomas on Shenandoah’s Dean’s List

WINCHESTER, Va. – Gannon Thomas, a Musical Theatre major from Fleming Island earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher at Shenandoah University in the fall 2019 semester. Gannon is one of 893 students that earned Dean's List honors in the fall 2019 semester.
Shenandoah University was established in 1875, and is headquartered in Winchester, Virginia, with additional educational sites in Clarke, Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

Orange Park’s Larson on Dean’s List at College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Orange Park’s Baileigh Larson was named to the College of Charleston fall 2019 Dean's List. Larson is a Public Health major.
To quality for Dean's List, students must earn a GPA of 3.600 or higher and complete a minimum of 14 semester hours.

ATLANTA – Elizabeth Fogarty of Orange Park was selected to the Dean’s List for the Fall semester at Georgia State University.
To be eligible for the Dean's List, degree-seeking students must have earned a GPA of at least 3.5 for a minimum of nine semester hours of academic credit taken at Georgia State during the fall or spring term with no incompletes for the semester. Eligible students must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 for all classes taken at Georgia State.

Northeastern selects Fleming Island’s Solomon to Dean’s List

BOSTON – Northeastern University is pleased to recognize those students who distinguish themselves academically during the course of the school year. Fleming Island’s Erin Solomon, a Northeastern University student majoring in comm studies/theatre, was recently named to the University’s Dean’s List for the fall semester, which ended in December 2019.
To achieve the dean’s list distinction, students must carry a full program of at least four courses, have a quality point average of 3.5 or greater out of a possible 4.0 and carry no single grade lower than a C- during the course of their college career. Each student receives a letter of commendation and congratulation from their college dean.

OP’s Spencer makes President’s List at Mount St. Mary’s

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Megan Spencer of Orange Park was named to the President's List for the fall 2019 semester at Mount. St. Mary's University. She achieved a 4.0 grade point average.
Mount St. Mary's University is a private, liberal arts, Catholic university in the Catoctin Mountains near historic Emmitsburg, Maryland, with a satellite campus in Frederick, Maryland's second largest city.

Two from GCS make Presque Isle’s Dean’s List

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Payton Herbert Jones and Timothy Burns, both of Green Cove Springs, earned spots on the Dean’s List for the Fall semester at University of Maine-Presque Isle.

Three local students finish with 4.0 GPAs at Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Fleming Island’s Hannah C. Frain, Middleburg’s Camrine Sydney Southard and Orange Park’s Nydia C. Ceronmiranda all were selected to the President’s List at the University of Alabama.
To make the President’s List, the three students achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the Fall semester.

Two Clay students on Dean’s List at Samford University

HOMEWOOD, Ala. – Samford University announced Madelyn Rosenau of Fleming Island and Delaney Haase of Middleburg both made the Dean’s List.
To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. Dean's List is the highest academic recognition given by the school at the end of each semester.

Nebraska-Lincoln selects Green Cove’s Murphy to Dean’s List

LINCOLN, Neb. – Green Cove Springs’ Renee Murphy recently was selected to the Dean’s List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the Fall semester.
Murphy, a junior psychology and political science major, was one of 5,700 students to achieve a minimum GPA of 3.5 for the semester.

Middleburg’s Mayo on Dean’s List at Emmanuel College

BOSTON – Austin Mayo of Middleburg made the Dean’s List at Emmanuel College for the Fall semester.
To earn a spot on the Dean's List, Emmanuel students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.

Clay County Cruzers make scholarships available

CLAY COUNTY – Graduating seniors are eligible and encouraged to apply for a $1,500 CCC Scholarship. Applicants must be graduating from the Clay County School System. Students are eligible if they are going to attend any post-secondary program of study including colleges, universities or vocational/technical schools.
Applicants are requested to write an essay of approximately 150 words and complete a short application form. Scholarship applications must be received by Clay County Cruzers on or before the application deadline of March 31.
The scholarship documents will be provided to each high school guidance office. The instructions and application form provide all relevant information a student needs to apply. These forms are also available on the Clay County Cruzers website at: www.claycountycruzers.com.
Selected candidates may be asked to attend a Clay County Cruzer meeting to introduce themselves and describe their plans.

Each applicant will be notified once their application is received. The winner will be announced in May 2020.
