OCALA - St. Johns Country Day School running back Marcus Coleman scored twice and defensive back Kyle Boylston snared three interceptions to lead the Spartans to a 20-19 win in their season opener over Ocala Christian Academy Friday night in Ocala.

Ocala scored twice in the opening stanza to build a 12-0 lead, then added one more in the second to get to halftime with a seemingly insurmountable 19-0 lead.

From there, Coleman started to ramp up his ballcarrying as the Spartans answered with a score in the second half with Coleman finishing with 89 rush yards on six carries and Boylston snagging a scoring pass from quarterback Joey Gomory. Roylston finished with four catches for 37 yards. Gomory finished with 12 of 21 passes for 85 yards.

Wideout Max Arnold, with four catches, also had an interception and a game-sealing two-point conversion. Running back Deuce Williams added 75 yards rushing on 10 attempts. Gavin Russell had three catches for 31 yards.

St. Johns will host St. John Paul II of Tallahassee, a 20-0 loser to 1A-Jefferson County in their opener, on Fri., Aug. 30.
