GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Parade Magazine recently ranked Camp Chowenwaw Park’s Treehouse Point treehouse as No. 8 in a ranking of the 26 best treehouses in the U.S. The article urges readers to “Take it back to summer camp at Treehouse Point in Clay County Florida’s Camp Chowenwaw.” The article also touts the park’s new kayak launch and Clay County’s 39 miles of waterways, as well as the inexpensive $35 a night cost to rent the treehouse. The treehouses in the Parade article range from those not built between trees but on stilts as well as those towering in trees of all types. The treehouses run from the majestic and beautiful to the odd. The nearest treehouse to join Camp Chow on the list was No. 19, the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park’s Spirit Treehouse, which was built in 1997-98 by Michael Garnier, the first treehouse he built outside of his treehouse subdivision in the Northwest.
