Property Appraiser employees earn professional designations

CLAY COUNTY – Roger Suggs, CFA, AAS, CCF, Clay County Property Appraiser, announced that Renee Large, Kristofer Obergfoll, Shaun Jackson and Thomas Marcy recently earned professional designations from the International Association of Assessing Officers.
The IAAO offers six professional designations and is a nonprofit, educational association whose mission is to provide innovation and excellence in property appraisal, property tax policy and administration through professional development, education, research, and technical assistance. IAAO members subscribe to a Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct and the Uniform Standard of Professional Appraisal Practice.
Large and Obergfoll earned the Assessment Administration Specialist designation, Jackson earned the Residential Evaluation Specialist designation and Marcy earned the Personal Property Specialist designation.
By earning their designations, they join an exclusive club of assessment professionals. Additionally, each of the new designees were recognized for their efforts by receiving the Anthony Hodge Educational Award at the Florida Chapter of the International Association of Assessing Officers annual conference in St. Petersburg.

Community Hospice and Palliative Care moves to expanded office

FLEMING ISLAND – Community Hospice and Palliative Care continued to expand last week with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its newest office on Fleming Island.
This is its eighth office throughout its 16-county service area and it expanded its 40-year relationship in Clay County.
As a result of continued expansion, Community Hospice and Palliative Care outgrew its former office location at its Blanding Boulevard location in Orange Park. The decision was made to find a location with ample parking, increased office space and community meeting space where Clay County groups and residents could meet free of charge. The new location in Fleming Island increases the overall footprint by 1,000 square feet to better serve the community.
Established in 1979, Community Hospice and Palliative Care is an innovative national leader in palliative and hospice care, as well as providing programs and services to meet the diverse needs of the communities it serves. During its 40-year history, Community Hospice and Palliative Care has served nearly 200,000 adults and children in Clay, Baker, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns counties, and recently expanded its service area to include 11 counties in north-central Florida. Through the support of more than 900 employees and 1,000 volunteers, the organization helps approximately 1,600 patients a day
to live better with advanced illness – at home, in long-term care and assisted living facilities, in hospitals and at its eight inpatient care centers.

Champion Brands, Fishweir Brewing to offer locally-brewed craft beer

JACKSONVILLE – Champion Brands, a Jacksonville beverage wholesaler, has partnered with Fishweir Brewing Company to distribute their craft beers in Clay, Baker, Duval, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties.
Owned and operated by Navy veteran Broc Flores and his wife, Stacey, Fishweir Brewing is located in Jacksonville. The couple spent many years in great craft beer cities before moving to Jacksonville and wanted to bring those flavors to the area. Inspired by the beautiful Fishweir Park, they founded the company in 2016 and have created many unique, clean and locally-inspired beers.
“At Fishweir, we wanted to focus on providing more access to styles of beer that are less common to the Jacksonville area,” said Broc. “We hope to provide all our customers with a wide range of farmhouse style and mixed fermentation products that are sometimes referred to as ‘sour’ beer.”
Said Stacey: “Currently, we will be distributing three beers outside of the taproom to bars and restaurants in the six counties including our Lazy River Pilsner, Bait & Switch Coffee Blonde and our Pucker Factor Kettle Sour.
