Tire blowout results in dump truck crash
MIDDLEBURG – A Middleburg man survived a wreck on Interstate 10 after a tire blow out caused him to lose control of his dump truck and block multiple lanes.
The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the wreck involving William J. Schreader, 48, of Middleburg on Aug. 21 at 4:15 p.m. after one of the tires on his dump truck blew out, which caused him to flip on the interstate and block westbound lanes.
An investigation revealed while Schreader traveled westbound on Interstate 10, his tire blew out. He lost control of the dump truck and collided with the crash cushion and concrete traffic barrier on the right shoulder.
The dump truck overturned on its right side, causing the hot asphalt Schreader was hauling to spill onto the roadway and block westbound traffic.
Authorities transported to University of Florida Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
