Parking lot punch ends in arrest
FLEMING ISLAND – Authorities have charged a Fleming Island woman with striking her father in the face while in a drug store parking lot.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rachel Marie Outlaw, 34, on Jan. 17 at 2:38 p.m. after investigating the fight they said took place in the Walgreens parking lot on County Road 220 on Fleming Island.
According to the police report, the victim – Outlaw’s father – told police that Outlaw “got upset from trying to get her medication and punched him in the face” and then walked away from the parking lot on foot.
Police said they found the man bleeding from his face and left arm after the fracas. Officers later stopped Outlaw walking southbound on Town Center Boulevard after leaving her 67-year-old father alone.
At press time, Outlaw remained in the Clay County Jail where she faces one count of battery on a person age 65 or older. Her bond is set at $10,003.

Battery charge after roommate fight
MIDDLEBURG – A disturbance that began over a disagreement about how clean their apartment was ended in a felony battery charge for one woman on Monday.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office charged Alicia Gaye Brock, 52, with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman after interviewing her and the victim.
Police went to the apartment where they both live at 7:37 a.m. on Jan. 16 and found that the victim had been allegedly punched repeatedly in the face by Brock.
“As the argument escalated, the victim stated that the defendant struck her on the right side of her face approximately two to three times with a closed fist,” states the report.
The victim is four-and-a-half months pregnant.
At press time, Brock remained in the Clay County Jail where her bond is set at $50,003.

Hammer threat leads to arrest
MIDDLEBURG – A concerned caller told the Clay County Sheriff’s Office that “an insane person” was disrupting the neighborhood, a call that would end in a felony arrest.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested Connie Williams Letchworth, 62 for one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after she allegedly threatened the victim with a hammer.
On Jan. 16 around 4 a.m., officers were called to the 3500 block of County Road 215 where they said Letchworth was in the victim’s backyard “blaring music and doing donuts,” states the police report.
When the victim turned on her front porch light, Letchworth left, but went around to the victim’s front of the house where she blared music and flashed her vehicle lights.
Police said the victim’s husband went outside to ask Letchworth what she wanted and when he did, she allegedly swung a hammer at his wife.
At press time, Letchworth remained in the Clay County Jail with her bond set at $25,003.

Man charged with holding victim against will
FLEMING ISLAND – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Orange Park man on charges aggravated assault with attempt to commit a felony, false imprisonment, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police received a 911 call from a man who said that George Winfree Thomas, 53, of Orange Park did maintenance work at his Fleming Island home. The victim had known Winfree for three months and began to trust him. The victim and Winfree returned from south Florida, where Winfree did work for the victim, police said.
The victim went inside of his Fleming Island home to use the bathroom. When the victim exited the bathroom, Winfree allegedly pointed a gun at him and gave the victim four unidentified pills to fall asleep, according to the police report.
Winfree let the victim leave the bathroom after 40 minutes to wire Winfree money from the victim’s laptop in the kitchen, the police report said.
When Winfree went to smoke a cigarette, the victim and his dog fled the residence and the victim called 911 from a neighbor’s house, according to the report.
The responding officer apprehended Winfree at the home without incident and booked him into the Clay County Jail where, at press time, he remained held on $150,009 bond.

Tampa man charged with molesting child
GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Clay County authorities have extradited a Tampa man to Clay County where he faces one count of molesting a child less than 12 years old.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for the arrest of Juan Manual Jaime, 39, who was booked into the county jail on Jan. 13.
According to the warrant, Jaime allegedly fondled the victim while she was in Clay County staying with her grandparents.
The victim told police that Jaimes touched her vagina through her clothing sometime between April 29, 2013 and April 29, 2014. Detective found that the victim was sleeping on an air mattress in the living room with her two siblings when she was attacked.
“The victim advised when J. Jaime returned from the bathroom, he laid down next to her on the ground,” states the warrant.
Police said the victim was repeatedly fondled in five or six additional incidents along with multiple other times in Tampa.
At press time, Jaime remained in jail without bond.

SWAT Team brought in on heroin arrest
ORANGE PARK – Members of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team were called on last week to apprehend an Orange Park man.
SWAT Team members along with detectives from the CCSO Organized Crime Division used a search warrant to go to a home at 259 Canid Dr. on Jan. 13
Police charged Alexander Henry, 67, of Jacksonville with one count of possession of heroin with intent to sell.
According to the police report, Henry was sitting on a leather couch outside of his Orange Park residence when Clay County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team took him into custody. According to the police report, there were two pill bottles beside the couch. Police found 5.7 grams of heroin with 46 individual tin-foil wrapped packages within one of the pill bottles.
At press time, Henry remained in the Clay County Jail where his bond is set at $75,003.

Man hides cannabis in anus
ORANGE PARK – A Jacksonville man faces a number of drug charges after an arrest by the Orange Park Police Department.
Officers charged Anwar Rashad Harrell, 36, on Jan. 11 after searching his vehicle during a traffic stop.
According to the police report, an OPPD officer saw Harrell driving with his vehicle lights off all the way from Park Avenue to Loring Avenue. When the officer stopped Harrell, he smelled marijuana coming from the car, which gave him probable cause to search the vehicle.
The search uncovered a half a gram of power cocaine and eight-tenths of a gram of crack cocaine. Officers verified the drugs using field-testing equipment.
At that point, Harrell was to be charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. However, by the time he was being booked into the Clay County Jail, detention officers found Harrell had allegedly tried to hide a bag of marijuana in his rectal cavity in order to sneak it into the jail.
At that point, Harrell was given the additional charges of possession of not more than 20 g. of cannabis and introducing contraband into a county jail facility.
At press time, Harrell remained in jail with his bond set at $37,508.


Traffic stop ends in Meth arrest
KEYSTONE HEIGHTS – What started as a traffic stop for allegedly running a stop sign at the intersection of Swathmore Drive and State Road 100 on Jan. 10, ended in three arrests on drug charges.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office charged Melissa Jacquelyn Gatton, 33, of Melrose, Zackary Adam Harwell, 31, and Timothy Louis Anderson, 26, both of Keystone Heights and booked them into the Clay County Jail in the early morning of Jan. 11 after an investigation.
According to the police report, Gatton’s vehicle “had a strong chemical smell emitting from inside the vehicle” when officers pulled her over.
A search of her car revealed a new, unopened 48-pack of Walmart brand pseudoephedrine, the key ingredient used to make methamphetamine. Officers also found a canister of Crystal Drano, lithium batteries and a funnel – items typically used to make a one-pot or shake and bake serving of meth.
Gatton, Anderson, and Harwell are all charged with one count each of conspiring with others to traffic methamphetamine, while Harwell also faces one count each of possession of a listed chemical with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Bond for Gatton and Anderson was set at $75,003 each, while Harwell’s bond was set at $125,009.
