Joseph Ira “Joey” Roberts

Joseph Ira “Joey” Roberts, of Green Cove Springs, died peacefully at home on Monday evening Sept 26, 2016 in Valdosta, Ga. with his loving wife (Ronda) by his side.

He was born at Orange Park Hospital on Aug. 13, 1952, to the late Catherine Starling Roberts & Ira Roberts.

He is survived by his wife Ronda Shirley Roberts, Valdosta Ga., eight children, Charles (Bear) Roberts; Jason Roberts; both of Green Cove Springs, Heather Roberts, St. Augustine, Hailey Roberts, (Keystone Heights) Alicia Stasuilis, (New Jersey), Carrie Smallwood, (Orange Park), Justine Straight, (New Jersey), Elizabeth Nowotny, (Indiana); Nineteen wonderful Grandchildren; one sister, Loretta Tucker, (Hobart, Indiana), and several loving cousins, nieces & nephews & friends.

He was a welder for many years in the Green Cove Springs area. He retired in 2014 from Waffle House Inc., where he served as a master grill operator, trainer and relief manager in the North Carolina & South Carolina area. He and his wife moved to Valdosta Ga from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina upon his retirement.

Services will be held at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member, on Saturday Oct 8th. Fellowship with the family will begin at 10am with celebration of life services to follow at 11am. Hickory Grove Baptist Church is located on Hwy 16 west in Green Cove Springs.

Jennie I. Richard (Merrithew)

Jennie I. Richard (Merrithew), 82, of Orange Park, Fl., passed away peacefully on Oct. 2, 2016. She was born on December 14, 1933 in Lynn, Mass. to Roger and Ethel Merrithew.

She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Orange Park. She worked as the church administrator for many years before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ronald E. Richard; 2 brothers and one sister.

She is survived by four children, Rick Richard of Jacksonville, Michele Moore (John) of Tallahassee, Paul Richard (Leslie) of Cumming, Ga., and Jenine Maddox (Keith) of Atlantic Beach, as well as five grandchildren (Justin, Heater, Jennie, Ashton and Colin), 5 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, 2 brothers and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St Catherine’s Catholic Church on Friday, Oct 7 at 9 am.

Jerry Dorsch

Jerry Dorsch was born and grew up in Wheeling, West Virginia. He attended Washington and Jefferson College, then West Virginia University School of Medicine. He interned at Wheeling Hospital, followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Pittsburgh.

Following two years in the Navy at NAS Jacksonville, he went into private practice in Jacksonville at St. Vincent’s and then worked at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, for over 20 years.

He and his wife co-authored 6 anesthesia textbooks and traveled extensively, giving lectures on anesthesia equipment and working on U.S. and international medical equipment standards. Following retirement from medicine he became a Master Gardener and ran a U-Pick farm on Thunder Road in Middleburg.

He is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Alycia Tillman, son David Dorsch, and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL 32073.

Funeral services will be at 10:00am Saturday, October 8, 2016 also at the funeral home with Pastor John Diller officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Children’s Home Society of Florida, 3027 San Diego Road, P.0. Box 566, Jacksonville, FL 32247.
