Faith Walk: Never quit

Jesus told an interesting story about interaction between two people. One was a judge and the other was a woman seeking justice in his court. In this parable, the judge was “unjust.” He was biased, prejudiced and corrupt. No one ever expected justice or even fairness in his court.

The woman, a widow, had a grievance and she went to this corrupt judge for justice. The judge rejected her, then tried to ignore her. But she continued to appeal to him for help. He would not help her and she would not stop asking for fair treatment and justice.

Finally, just to get her to leave him alone, the judge decided to help her. Jesus made it clear in his parable that her persistence was the only reason the judge helped the widow.

Then He made the point of the parable clear. “And the Lord said, ‘Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.’” (Luke 18:6-8 NIV)

Do not quit. Do not give up. Do not surrender. Continue to seek God, serve Him and apply to Him in prayer.

If a judge who cares nothing for this woman or her cause would grant her justice because she refuses to quit, how much more will God, who loves you, answer you, if you will not give up.

“Everyone who asks and keeps on asking receives” is what Jesus said. (Luke 11:10 AMP)

Continuing to pursue our requests with our Lord is a statement of our confidence in His love. He will answer because He loves us.

I encourage you to read in your Bible in the Gospel of Luke, chapter 11 verses 1 through 13. It could provide the very understanding you need to continue with your Lord.
